Tremont Electric's resident pooch, Harvey, is beside herself with excitement over the launch of the new nPower® PEG, as this video clearly shows.
Sadie Carfagno, a 5th grader at Gesu Elementary School, came by Tremont Electric yesterday to interview our founder and CEO Aaron LeMieux as part of a class project about inventors. She even brought cookies! The class is staging a Q&A discussion over tea among famous inventors like Ben Franklin and Thomas Edison. Sadie is one of only two of her classmates to interview an inventor who is actually alive! Thanks Sadie! Here's Aaron demonstrating his invention to Sadie.

Cleveland, OH – Tremont Electric’s nPower® PEG, the world’s first passive kinetic energy charger for personal hand-held electronics, today was named one of three finalists for the 2012 Edison Award, in the Power Generation/Utilization category of Energy & Sustainability.
“It is an honor to be mentioned in the same breath as Edison,” said founder, inventor, and CEO, Aaron LeMieux. "In fact, Edison once said, 'We are like tenant farmers chopping down the fence around our house for fuel when we should be using Nature's inexhaustible sources of energy — sun, wind and tide.' Edison must have imagined creating electricity from no fuel other than motion and generating no emissions. We’re thrilled the Edison Awards recognize how nPower® technology can help realize that dream, and change the way we use and generate electricity.”
Named after American history’s most prolific & important inventor, Thomas A. Edison, and in its 25th year, the Edison Award’s panel of more than 3,000 people judged 2012 entrants based on the primary themes of Concept, Value, Impact, and Delivery. Winners will be announced April 26 at a gala in New York, NY. The 2012 Edison Awards are sponsored by Nielsen, Discovery Communications, Science Channel, USA Today, CSRware and applepeak.

We made the front page of today's Wall Street Journal coverage of mobile power solutions. One of our hero customers, Victor Sherwood, gets an extensive quote.
Victor Sherwood, 24, rarely goes out without the PEG sitting upright in his backpack to build up a charge. One time, though, the field IT engineer left his PEG unshaken in his car for several days exactly at a moment when he needed it: during a late-night job at a warehouse when his phone ran out of juice. So Mr. Sherwood turned himself into a human power station, running around and shaking his PEG up and down like a jackhammer, to create more energy. "I got enough of a charge that I could call the boss and tell him that my phone was dead."
As we like to say....the power is in you, Victor!
Today, Nike announced the new Nike FuelBand, which measures your physical activity.
Designed to be worn throughout the day, the ergonomic, user-friendly NIKE+ FuelBand uses accelerometry to provide information about different activities through movement of the wrist via a LED dot matrix display. Four metrics are available: Time, Calories, Steps and NikeFuel. Unlike calorie counts, which vary based on someone’s gender and body type, NikeFuel is a normalized score that awards equal points for the same activity regardless of physical makeup.
Sounds like something that would be the perfect companion with the new version of the nPower® PEG, launching this spring. Why not harvest that activity into your own clean electricity?
Tremont Electric is pleased to announce a new round of investment and loan financing that will take the company through the launch of the new nPower® PEG in spring of 2012.
"Clean energy off the grid is one step closer to reality," said CEO & Founder Aaron LeMieux. "Our investors have redoubled their support for kinetic energy technology, and the newer & more powerful version of the nPower® PEG. We look forward to delivering clean electricity off the grid to anyone who needs it this spring."
The financing complements Tremont Electric's new partnership with Delta Systems, Inc., an Ohio-based contract manufacturer with nearly 40 years experience in design, logistics, manufacturing and quality control.
